Kara attended Epicenter’s initial production Glengarry Glen Ross for the closing performance which was followed by a Q & A session with the cast and directors. She asked how to get involved with the group, and was told that they would be glad to have her, because the all-male ensemble was a “sausage fest”. She got her chance to become involved with Epicenter Theatre Group later that year when she received a message from them asking her to play the female lead in Steve Martin’s Picasso at the Lapin Agile. Kara relished her return to the stage, playing the lusty barmaid, Germaine. After many years working in front of a camera, the energy of a live audience provided such a rush, and reminded her why she’d always loved theatre in the first place.
The Epicenter team decided that they appreciated what Kara brought to the group as far as enthusiasm, organization and willingness to help with all aspects of the show. In January, 2012, they brought her onto the Board of Directors, where she now happily serves as Director of Personnel and gets to work firsthand with everyone who gets involved with Epicenter.
